Thinking the same

Seems like every time I try to sell anything of value on Marketplace, I get the same message. "I want to purchase your trailer (or whatever) and I will pay your asking price. I will have my guy bring you a cashiers check and pick up the trailer, just send me your address ". Usually you tell them cash only and you never hear from them again.

If you have the user name of the Facebook messenger you guys were talking with, law enforcement need to write a search warrant for the account information including the IP address that was accessing the account. After the information is received take IP address and subpoena the account information for it. Hopefully it’s for a cellphone, then law enforcement would need to right a search warrant GPS location on the cellphone.

That’s how I would work it.

For future transactions such as this, you should buy an air tag and put it somewhere on your item you are selling. Had your son done that, it would have been an easy recovery. Cheap insurance for $25. You could even recover the air tag if the transaction is legit, contact the buyer and tell them you left “something” in a compartment and get your air tag back.

On the AirTag that everyone keeps suggesting. After period of time the AirTag lets the nonlinked phones know there is an AirTag and it also chimes. It is a possible solution for a very short time.

Nothing positive, imo the law enforcement could have checked records of cell phones in our location at the time, they don’t seem interested in doing much, which is usually the case when these things happen. I doubt it will ever be found, we gave them the user name of the guy, and like someone stated it could be searched off user name. Like I stated in the beginning that I was basically posting this to try and help someone from getting scammed, that’s probably the only positive thing that will come from this.

i put 2 rzrs on market place for sale yesterday. i specifically said i will have to verify ALL money through my bank so if youre not will to do that, keep scrolling. had a guy message me today wanting to come look sunday and bring a cashiers check. told him only during bank business hours. thought that would scare him away and then i would have a suspect for you. he still wants to look sunday and then meet at bank monday if he decides to buy.

If he’s driving a white 4 door dodge and young black male that may very well be him.

Not him, but make sure to verify the funds, sounds like this may be another attempted scam with the cashiers check.
