Greed and stupidity is an awful combination. There definitely will be one dumb SOB pay it.

Sounds like it might be the Barton Ridge property.

I’m sure some of you think it’s stupid to own a ten million dollar boat then invest a half million betting and paying crew in billfish tournaments a year then are happy when they hit for a hundred thousand in one. My question is, if a person that was able to make that kind of money is an idiot or stupid? He’s the same person that would lease a property like this because his children wanted to get into hunting.

Yes. To lease it. If he’s that smart and has that kind of money, just buy the damn place.

I’ve hunted it and knew Mr. Barton and his kids. His stepsons are fraternity brothers of mine. Both of them have done amazingly well (one in business the other in medicine). But believe me, if I had Yella Wood money, I’d buy that place and have one helluva Aldeer shindig!

In Oct 1998 I spent the first two nights of my honeymoon in that 900 ft2 cabin, enroute to Seaside. I didn't even hunt back then, and the Bartons were operating a very nice restaurant and B&B on the property. People would drive from Atlanta just to eat there. About ten years later I joined the club they ran when it had about 4000 acres of owned and leased land. I was in it for two turkey seasons and a deer season. Great place.

Yeah. Bump that. Main reason I don’t duck hunt but once every 2-3 years now. Used to have leases in Ms and Ar for 2k/yr including a place to stay. Would hunt about every other week. Them days are long gone for me.
