Just going to see which one is the preferred mechanical broadhead? I personally have not shot anything but Rage. The main reasons I’m thinking about switching to shwacker is designed of the delayed opening after penetration into the animal. Seems to me that would allow a a better result if you hit a rib or shoulder. Also I’m so dang tired of putting my arrows in my quiver and the blades popping out on the Rage. I have had good results with the Rage unless I get to tight to that shoulder then my penetration is very minimal. I know that is technically my fault but I’m not perfect and wondering if a different design like the shwacker might be better if that happens?

Out of those 2? You’re “splitting hairs”. I still shoot spitfires, but wouldn’t hesitate to shoot either of those. Just find one and stick with it until you want to change I guess. Most big name broadheads will do fine if you put them in the wheelhouse. Had good and bad blood trails with most I’ve shot. Lots of variables go into it that are uncontrollable. Whether fixed or mechanical.

I shoot three different crossbows with three different FPS's, shoot expandables exclusively, but can't say I would switch to expandables if I didn't already have them. I would definitely stay away from the older rubber band style expandables, unless they are being shot in a lower FPS regular bows. You gain with flight trajectory with expandables, but you might lose with more issues to go wrong, kind of a toss up, if you ask me. Quality control matters on both, but it would seem more so on expandables. Ever seen metal stamping? From inferior steel to not enough oil on parts, a lot can go wrong. I would say buy the best arrows, fletching, and broadheads. Check all the weights on a scale and at a bow shop. Shoot and check all parts before going on the hunt, even shoot the expandeable at least one time into a target and cut it out, check and re-check before next use, especially check sharpness of blades.

I have decided to stick with Spitfires too, years ago actually. What did it for me was shooting into and through a 10-12 foot tall little oak tree (not on purpose, was shooting at a buck). Didn't realize I had even hit the tree. I got down to check for blood and find the deer and noticed two of the three Spitfire blades were stuck in the tree about 6 ft. off the ground. I saw my arrow several yards away lying on the ground in the direction the deer ran. I picked it up and the Spitfire was still attached to the arrow with one blade! I had what seemed to be about 8 inches of penetration on the arrow. I found and followed a massive amount of blood immediately. When I found the buck, the arrow had went through the sapling, stuck in the the deer's neck about 6-8 inches...and that sucker left a 2 ft. wide paint trail down into the bottom (must've hit a juglar)!

I know the SVER broadheads are great through my xbow but Ive yet to kill anything with my new Mathews using them
I'll say if they perform as well as with the xbow I will never switch to anything else
In my xbow I killed two hogs with complete pass through and the same broadhead and its still extremely sharp and ready to use again
one of those hogs weighed maybe 250lbs and made it approx 50' before dying

When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself
The older I get the better I used to be

Of those two, I would lean more to swhacker. If you are interested in checking out another mechanical head, look at the grim reapers.

If you want to do a lot of testing with the scwhackers before taking them hunting, Amazon has packs of small o-rings and bands that are way less expensive than the schwacker yellow bands.

I’ve been using the Megameats but going to try the Beast this year. Megameats have always been great but they are a one and done if that matters.

Love the Rage Trypans. Zipped through a 250 pound KS buck last year from 30 yards. Buck went 50 yards!

Always Had good blood trails with Rage. Looks like a crime scene and easy to follow even with hits a little further back than intended.

Swapped to Shwackers after the third Rage Trypan tip bent on me after a pass through.

No expendables for me, but I saw the hole one made in a doe and it was HUGE.
