Looks like my buddy got us a house rented in Southern Illinois to hunt public land for the bow opener. We are gonna concentrate on the Crab Orchard but may move up to wren lake as well. It opens on a Tuesday Oct. 1st. We plan to drive up Sat night the 28th and scout Sunday and Monday. Most likely were gonna take my boat to hunt from. Starting to get excited about it. I love the challenge to go to new places to hunt obviously where there is better hunting than our Alabama pine goats. Hope to find some hot acorns and hope we get some cool weather.

Leaving tomorrow as soon as the kids get home to head to Kentucky. 70s and 40s aught to be good for the opener.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

I hunted Jackson County but, would ride over to Crab Orchard. There will be a group from Florida (mainly Tallahassee) that is hard core and very friendly. They are killers and can give you some pointers. They normally pull a trailer called "The Gut Bucket". Good luck and keep us posted. I stayed in Makanda. I was wondering if those boys were still around. I haven't seen them in a long time. Used to hunt with us.
