I sit on the ground mostly hunting transition areas like roads bordering overgrown cutover and bedding areas. I'll also hunt from the ground in hardwoods if I have a high vantage point like a ridge. I've killed a lof of good Alabama deer doing that and I don't have to worry about falling out of a treestand.
My go to is a gobbler lounger and placed around some sort of cover. I've also got one of those Primos stake out blinds for those times when you don't have a lot of cover options. I killed a nice 134 inch 8 point on a road two seasons ago just sitting on the edge of the road with that thing in front of me.

I didn't read all the comments, but I see and shoot good deer by taking my very comfortable turkey chair made by Alps. It's camo and foldable. Sits your butt inches off the ground in a reclining position. You can easily prop your gun up on your knee(s) for a steady rest. I like to find old logging roads and fire breaks, where I can see at least 100-200 yards. I want there to be multiple deer trails crossing the road. Set yourself up in the turkey chair in/beside a bush of low-hanging limb and you're good to go. Rut comes, big bucks WILL show up crossing the road...but you better stay ready because he won't stand still in the logging road/firebreak for you to carefully take your shot. I killed a couple bucks in that exact setup. Had a hot doe and two other does come through and sure enough a big buck came through 5 minutes later. Couldn't get a shot. Kept watching that spot and sure enough 30 minutes later a big 7 came through and I busted him. Got another big 8 in the same spot the following year after a hot doe with two spikes hounding her came through.

One of my favorite tactics also…

I am old - age has pushed my old butt to the ground. On roads when i hunt - i hav a tripod and up and ready - it will be quick anyway
I use to never like them - but i use a ground blind now amd like it. I Just put up a big new shootn house at big field - just need new steps and a back door - lookin forward to it!
Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self We need prayer for our country now more than ever
