I sit on the ground mostly hunting transition areas like roads bordering overgrown cutover and bedding areas. I'll also hunt from the ground in hardwoods if I have a high vantage point like a ridge. I've killed a lof of good Alabama deer doing that and I don't have to worry about falling out of a treestand.

My go to is a gobbler lounger and placed around some sort of cover. I've also got one of those Primos stake out blinds for those times when you don't have a lot of cover options. I killed a nice 134 inch 8 point on a road two seasons ago just sitting on the edge of the road with that thing in front of me.

I hate ground blinds Shaw. Never feel like I can see or move freely. That’s just me

I killed a couple bucks in that exact setup. Had a hot doe and two other does come through and sure enough a big buck came through 5 minutes later. Couldn't get a shot. Kept watching that spot and sure enough 30 minutes later a big 7 came through and I busted him. Got another big 8 in the same spot the following year after a hot doe with two spikes hounding her came through.

At 61 I like a ground blind and a buddy heater way more now a day! a turkey chair or Millennium on other days when wind doesn't agree with blind setup!

I love hunting off the ground. I use to just sit down next to a tree. As I’ve gotten older I now use a comfortable turkey chair. The chair is still small and portable. Some of my best and most exciting hunts have been off the ground.

Whatever is necessary LOL. I’ve had a lot of good hunts just sitting on the ground.

I use both, and when I’m bow hunting I want to be above them in a tree. I’ve killed a few with the bow from the ground or ground blinds, but I prefer to be above. Now that I’m in my 40s I find myself compromising by hunting from elevated shooting houses a good bit.

I am old - age has pushed my old butt to the ground. On roads when i hunt - i hav a tripod and up and ready - it will be quick anyway

I use to never like them - but i use a ground blind now amd like it. I Just put up a big new shootn house at big field - just need new steps and a back door - lookin forward to it!

Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self

I also have been very effective on the ground using one if those synthetic material ghillie suits. Not the heavy string ones. They suck. I use the one called “kill suits” You can find them on most predator hunting sites. The deer may notice you but they have no damn idea what you are. I rarely get busted in one.

Ladder stand or shooting house. Climbers are a last resort for me now. I have never been injured on one but have come extremely close a few times.
