What is yalls advice:
I have a grove of persimmon trees on my property that produce pretty much every year. however, the area where they grow is very thick and there isnt a ton of shot opportunities with a bow even though my lock on is about 20 yards away
What would be the potential repercussions of clearing out around the base of the trees. various brush, privet, vines, sweet gum saplings, etc.
I want to clear a swath about 30 yards in diameter around the little grove of trees. Just wondering if clearing it out like that will spook the deer off of it this close to the season or if it might even be healthy for the trees in the long run. It is a stand of about 8 trees that usually drop persimmons every year... Wait till spring and do it.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Me personally, I would go ahead and do it. My deer are so use to human activity that they will be walking around checking out the new clearing the night after I clear. If nothing else clear out shooting lanes and throw out some wheat in the ground litter to hold them for a minute while they munch on fresh green while passing through the lane.

My issue with persimmons is they drop and are done before our season gets going. Some years they are gone before 10/15, other years they tend to linger until the last week of october. I do not know what makes the difference

Itd have to have sign under it…just cause theys one there dont mean they make a habit of checkin it…ive got probly 100 different persimmons gps marked an i dont even chack half of them anymore..no point..deer are habitual feeders and if the tree feeds…it will feed about ever year..and some more than others. I aint sayin if its the only food source in the woods they wont eat it…but a hot tree will be a whole different ball game…you wont have to clean around it…look like cattle been under it. My point bein…if its thick an nasty around it..probly aint gettin used much in the firs place…my 2 cents on it…and im a feed tree nut.

Some years they seem to hit it hard and other years they seem to kind of ignore it
