Could you be thinking about Carinata? It’s in brassica family and fairly new to the scene. Canola has been grown for oil production for a long time. I guess I meant to say new to the southeast possibility

I have planted it a few times on my S. IL lease. I purchase the seed from Tecomate. I had a guide in IL tell me that was his secrete plot ingredient before it become public information. I honestly haven't seen anything special about it when I planted it.

If the deer have never eaten canola, I would plant something with it to get them started. Just a thought.
