It cost me $3200 to keep it under bumper-to-bumper warranty for almost 10 years. At 5 years it ran out and I purchased a new warranty at my GM dealership. I only put about 10-12k a year on my truck.

Naw the 6 speed chits the Bed too.

All older models?
I’d be interested in what year models performed the best.
GM needs to do something with their warranty besides the lawsuits.

And not only transmission issues. It’s the AFM system, lifter issues, oil consumption problems, ac condensers, info screens, brake vacuum pump, shocks, etc.

Do the 2024/2025 still use the same transmission and the V8 AFM bull crap?

Yep had to replace Condenser (trans was already replaced over a year ago) the one in my Son's 16 last month, and there was another half dozen being fixed by my Buddy, INCLUDING is own lol.

6L80 was still a good tranny. Most people I know are getting more than 250k before needing rebuilds.

BTW... my 4L80 is original at 326k.

The GM 3.0 Duramax Diesel is the best engine available for a 1/2 ton pickup.

As long as GM offers that engine I will keep buying.

The GM V8 is still solid... the transmission is the biggest issue. With the 3.0 Duramax do you get the Allison Trans?

My 2017 Sierra transmission went out at 34000 miles. Couple thousand miles late I started getting a message on the display that said Stable Track. The electrical system completely failed. The door locks would not unlock. I am finished with GM! I drive a Ram Laramie now. No problems with it. Had it 3 years with zero issues.

Have two good Tranmissions guys that are Friends, and they both agree, it's a GOOD transmission, but still have the chitty torque converters.

In fairness, when I replaced my rear main seal at 280k I put a new torque converter on because I knew that was the weak link. I think that was a good call.

I heard from a GM service writer , add fuel pumps to the list, the already long list .

I blame the government and the environmentalists. If we could go back to 350’s and 4 barrel carbs we wouldn’t be having these discussions.

To be fair, up until maybe the mid-90’s, a vehicle was considered to be pretty much worn out at 100k miles. Now they’re still nearly new

Has anyone seen the Ram Tungsten on any lots? I'm looking at the GMC Denali Ultimate now but, I saw a video on the Tungsten Ram and it was impressive.

Their new L6 Hurricane engine is an unknown. The Hemi is gone, unavailable.

Good rule of thumb is to NEVER buy a vehicle with a new engine model in it, for at least a couple years after introduction. It takes them that long to get enough of them into the field, and with enough miles on them, to start identifying the problems and figuring out the real issues (design flaws and part fit, function, and durability failures) and getting them fixed internally at the factories, before the units make it to the lots for sale.

After the numerous threads outlining all of the problems with GM/Chevy, why would you still consider them?

I drive one now and have had minimal issues. I did have the Trans Fluid flushed and replaced with the new formula and it seemed to have done the trick. It shuddered so bad headed to the dealer to get it serviced that I thought I was going to have to get a tow truck. I made it there, they serviced it, and no more trouble. That was 40k miles ago. I like the Ultimate trim and the the looks of the Ram Tungsten. If there is a long wait on the Ram, I'll get the GMC Ultimate. I have friends with new tundra's and they don't like them. I also have friends with new fords and they don't like them. I guess there are problems with any of them so I'll drive the one I think looks the best and is the most comfortable. I don't use it as a tool.

10-4. Just seems real risky with the repeated pattern over the years.
