In most cases I'd have to agree with you. But considering all that is going on in the domestic and international news it sparks the initiative to be forward leaning for the family and the small community I now live in. Should supply chains fail completely or just partially shotguns are pretty useless for protection or food collection without shot, except maybe as a boat anchor. Having the time right now to prepare for a future need beyond trap or skeet and clays is just good common sense thinking. I've spent the time we were living in West Mobile collecting lead roofing jacks so I would be able to spend some time at the range shooting without a considerable drain on my fixed income in retirement. I now have the time and material to add some more supplies for whatever the times might bring. I build a smelter a few years ago to turn the roofing lead into usable metal. Ended up with about 700 pounds of metal. Should be good for awhile I hope.
