Something I observed when chronographing my 10mms was a heavier recoil spring seemed to increase velocity. Not much, but noticeable. Most 10mm polymers seem to come with very light springs. Both smith and glock factory seem to be way less than 20lbs and closer to 17. First thing I do is swap out with a 24lb recoil spring for both my 10mm polymer and 1911s.

Heavier spring means longer lock up. I'm hypothesizing that a longer lock times may be more efficient with faster burning pistol powders. Not dramatic, but noticeable.

UT when the .40 came out gunwriter Charles Petty wrote how the fast burners weren't great for accuracy his baseline was Unique and slower. He also wrote about the 10 Lite being undersprung and he used heavier Wolff springs. I'm not a famous gun writer like Charlie but I've found the big 10 loves some AA#9 and AA#5.

Skinny is my EX.Alcohol was involved.

My sweet spot is with Longshot. Either M&P or Tisas group exceptional with either 180 gr hornady HAP or XTP and the 180 gr Nosler. Interesting the Tisas averages about 40-50 fps more with about .5" more barrel.
