Friendly reminder. Every year we need to be reminded. Wear that safety harness.

Prayers for a quick recovery. He seems stable.

Wearing your harness is not enough. You have to be connected from the time you leave the ground until you are back on the ground. The Seek One guys did a podcast recently about a guy from Birmingham that fell from a lock on and is now paralyzed from the neck down. He was wearing a safety harness. The problem was he didn’t connect to the tree until after he stepped from the ladder sticks to the stand. As he reached up to connect his tether, the lock on shifted and he fell to the ground. It’s an amazing story of survival but it was entirely preventable. I may fall tomorrow but at least my family would know I did everything possible to prevent it.

Been almost 15 years since my fall involving a ladder stand and not being tethered off. Broke my neck and tore a disc in my lower back. Came within a gnat’s hair of being paralyzed from the neck down.

He’s a heck of a good man and rough on a turkey too. I pray he makes a full recovery and didn’t scare his family too bad in the process.

I’ve only hung one lock on without a lineman’s belt and it was the last time. Lineman’s belt and a safety rope is where it’s at.

Hank is a class act. I have met and talked to him a number of times over the last 40 years or so, probably 6 or 8 times.

He is the friendliest, most genuine famous person I have ever met. He was at a BASS weigh-in in Guntersville where I took my 13 year old cousin. Kid asked Hank politely to sign his hat, thanked him, and was about to walk off.

Hank immediately invited us to hang out with him and Lonnie Stanley. Hank said "you will get a lot more signatures here than wandering around. Hank held on to the hat and waved people over to sign it. We left and he had about 20 autographs and a bag of lures that Lonnie and the other pros gave him.

This was not unusual for him. I saw him at several other events in later years, and he behaved very similarly. Last time, he remembered me from about 5 years prior, and immediately joked that I must be following him around.

He is what all famous people should strive to be, at least how they treat their fans.

Thanks for the proofreading!

Corrected it to 13.

I was impressed that someone like him would be so nice to a kid he had never met. He was literally calling people over to sign the hat, and asking them if they had any lures to give the kid. It was a really cool experience, as some of the other folks were just rude to the kids waiting for a picture or an autograph.

Tom Mann was another really nice guy. He was walking around with a bunch of his "baseball cards" that someone did, and he had autographed a bunch of them to hand out to the kids.

Tom Mann is another good one. His daughter was my 5th grade art teacher, absolutely one of the most beautiful and nicest ladies I’ve ever met.
