Hey guys... question about breaking up ground after spraying fields. In drier conditions like we're experiencing right now, is there is any danger in inhaling herbicide chemicals into the lungs when disking, plowing, or tilling? If so, at what point is the risk reduced or lessened?

i think there are more health risks with what you’re doing than chemical inhalation. if you’re the one doing the spraying, there’s a re-entry time listed on the label. just make sure the product is dry and have at it.

You really shouldn't get that mess on your skin, much less inhale it. The reason Roundup causes so many issues like Parkinsons is because it breaks down cell mitochondria. It's what it does in the plants at a cellular level to kill them.

Not sure what checmical you plan on spraying, but if your area is in the drought like ours is, you're peeing up a rope by spraying anything. You are not going to have much of a kill. If you're spraying a per-emergent, remember that they all must get rained in within a certain amount of time. Time varies on checmical.

^^This. If you’re worried of breathing chemical laden dust, wear a mask and shades (goggles if really worried about it).

experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

I don't worry much about that. Maybe when you are spraying it would be a good idea. But the guys mixing it and spraying it for real practically take a bath in it for several weeks each year. Discing up a food plot after it is sprayed isn't an issue. In the spring driving around the county roads is probably worse. Can taste that stuff in the air.

Following up a few days after spraying with a disc is a non issue if you’re worried about residual in the dust.
