Old deer can get that way without being genetic freaks from a deer farm. Doesn't generally happen until they are 7+ though. I have seen several in Alabama, and a bunch in Texas.

This one was aged to be at least 9-1/2 years old, and was born wild in Alabama, within 50 miles of Tuscaloosa. Live weight over 325 lbs. No exact number, because he broke the 300 lb. scale before he cleared the concrete. Processor weighed in 107 lbs of boneless meat.

He scored 175 7/8

I saw the skull, and could lay my hand flat between the burrs on the bases of his antlers, which is a hair over 4 1/4 inches wide.

The nose on that deer is crazy. Definitely super old.
