Despite my better judgement, I find myself looking at a home on 5ac with 3-4 being grass. For you guys with big yards, how long is it going to take me to mow 3-4ac with a 5’ zero turn mower? I bushhog my fields at the farm all the time, but it doesn’t matter if I let it get out of hand. Mama ain’t gonna be happy with that scenario. Hopefully eventually get a few acres of it in wild flowers and a garden etc.

3/4 hours tops. I’m on an acre and a half. Brother is an acre and dad is an acre. I usually cut all three when I cut.
I’d imagine if you keep it cut regular not much time. But if it has Bahai then maybe a little longer. That grass gets tall
I have to go over another time sometime on thick spots.
But my centipede and st Augustine. One swipe and it’s a wrap.

I mow around 4-5 acres on a John Deere Z960 5ft mower. It moves pretty quick and takes around 1 1/2-2 hrs but not mowing a nice flat rectangular field either.

I'm around two acres per hour dealing with trees, power poles, driveway and house.

Mowing is the biggest waste of a man's time there is. That being said , 3 acres, no trimming , not many trees and such to mow around , hammer down , I'm gonna guess 1.5 hours .

I've never understood why folks purposely set a house up with acres and acres of grass to mow..........

Round up is your friend. Spray about a foot around every tree, water faucet, power pole & guide wire, fence, and so on. This will let you cut past this kind of stuff & never slow down. I use ear buds & sound blocking headphones & listen to tunes while mowing. It helps pass the time. I always grease all the mowers grease fittings & make sure it’s fueled up before I start. No reason to stop until it’s done that way.

I absolutely despise cutting grass and yard work in general.
However, I do like the way my yard looks when I’m finished.

On the other hand, I can spend countless hours on the tractor and enjoy every minute. 😁

Here's the weird thing for me , I was Ok with it when I was working , now that I'm retired and have the time, I really dislike it. I mow bout 2.5 acres.

Put up a fence and put some sheep or goats on it

I set a reasonable area for a yard and my wife increased it over a two year period and it went from 1 acre to 5

Bushhogging and mowing are definitely not the same.......

Get ya some goats ... but beware ,,they'll eat everything up not tied down and them some.... you may have to catch an escapee every now and then... they'll get the job done... and you can slaughter one and throw it on the smoker...
