Im pretty sure this deer is 2yo. He was a little scrubby 6pt last year. He was always with a doe last year. This year he runs alone most of the time but is with a doe some. I figure shes his sister and mama got killed their first year. This is a pretty good deer for a 2yo around here. Ive showed him to a few people and said, "thisll be a great deer in two more years". Every one of them laughed at me and said, "that deer will get shot this year". And theyre pretty much right. He probably weighs 100-110lbs. Obviously a young deer with potential. It sure would be nice to see what he looks like in sept of 26 but it probably wont happen. I get pics of him several times a day. Hes a local deer. If he grows as much or anywhere close to as much in the next two years as he did the last year, he would be an awesome 4yo. If he did stay around somehow, it would be hard for me to kill him, hes getting to be like a pet.

Yeah, he's young and when you watch them grow, it gets a little hard to kill them sometimes. I wouldn't shoot him after watching him grow, but I would give my wife the green light if she wanted to......

No question you should wait on him, even if you think your neighbor might get him first.

I wont shoot him, Joseph wont either. The neighbors i showed him to wouldnt shoot him but theres some more here close that would have shot him last year. Between them "if its brown its down" hunters around here, cars and a long hard rut around here, his chances are not good. But we will feed him and give him a safe place to lay down. Thats about all i can do.

Don’t forget a 3 month gun season.

If you shoot him, 0% chance of making it to 4 years old

If you don’t, something greater than 0% chance.

Good luck with him. Maybe he’ll survive till 3 at least

I feel your pain , I've got a club to the north of me that blasts em up every day of season. Over half their members are meat hunters and shoot deer , dont matter big small doe or buck . Now they have a few members that say they want a mature buck and they do kill a couple good ones every year but over all the average buck that comes out of there is 2yr olds.
Sorry to vent in your post...I'm done
