I brought in a bunch of gin trash to fix the soil in my little garden spot. It did a great job amending the soil but with it came pigweed, alot of igweed. Pigweed is a hard sonofagun to fight. When i got finished with my little garden this year, i used my skidsteer to push all tge plants out and carried it all across the road and dumped it. Here come the pigweed. Before it seeded, i pushed all of it out and put it across the road. I did that a third time today. This time there was much less, maybe 5-10% what was there before. I push it up roots and all. Never thought i would be using a skid steer to work in the garden. I reckon sometimes you have to think out of the box to solve some problems.

According to the article I just read on pigweed it refers to it as “🌱 The Ground's Best Friend. In your garden, Pigweed acts as a nutrient booster, enriching the soil and promoting the growth of your other plants.”
You might want to haul it back.🤷‍♂️

The pigweed im talking about has a red stem, big seedhead, careless briars all over it. It grows fast and has big roots. It makes alot of seeds quick. It outgrows garden plants. It is envasive. There might be another weed called pigweed that is beneficial but this one is of the devil. Itll ruin a garden pretty quick.

Pigweed is pretty easy to kill with 2,4 D or butyrac(2,4 Db)

I googled it and from the pitlcturwa i see, I've always called it red briar. Growing up, we always got the litter when they cleaned out the neighboring chicken houses. I always thought they came with the litter. Looking back, I now figure they were laying dormant and the litter just made them sprout and take off. Either way, I hated it. On a different note, we also always got the 6 or 8 inch section of white pipe joints in the litter. The cow that stepped into a section of that pipe and wore it like a bracelet for weeks before we cut it off came in second to the cow that got some hay string wrapped around one teat that was acting as a casterating band in the strange things category. The prize winner was the calf that was born with a flap of hide that started between the ears and covered one eye, almost like a flopy third ear.
