Ive never purchased firewood before, but unfortunately this year we haven't had any trees down or access to any to cut up. Has anyone tried going to your local tree service and buying wood from them not split? Or does anyone have a good contact in the helena/alabaster area for split seasoned wood. I hate to purchase, but it looks like my only option at this point.

one thing I look for when I used to buy firewood was how they measured it. I hate the truck load BS were they throw it in the truck every which way so it looks like more than what it is.
I cant remember what they call it, but I like when its measured. Basically they put 2 T posts about 3-4 feet apart and stack the wood in between posts.

ETA: from the internet

Firewood is generally sold using a volume measurement. Terms used to describe the volume of wood are cord, face cord, fireplace cord, and rick. A cord is a neatly stacked pile of wood measuring 4 feet by 8 feet with each piece of wood 4 feet in length.

I sell it stacked in a 5'x8' trailer with 20" side panels which works out to a touch over 64 cubic feet which is 1/2 a Cord of wood. $220.00 delivered.

Thanks I found a guy close by that sells it by the cubic ft. For the price he gave me seems like the best deal I can get and he is only about 2 miles from me.

Might want to hit up Jwalker77 on here. Could work out well for both of you.

I would price it out at Alabama Firewood Producers in Pelham. I have found it to be very cheap. It is sold by weight there. Weigh your truck, load it up, weigh it again, pay.

4’ tall, 8’ long about 16”-20” splits is a rick. 3 ricks is a cord. If I do sell any I sell by the rick. For my area $80-$100 is usual.

Around here a Rick 4x4 ft 20-24” long. Double that is a rank . Usually a Rick is $20

Little cheaper over here but dimensions are correct.

I see people selling firewood all the time if you come get it. Forget that! If I'm going to pay for firewood I want it delivered and stacked. The only time I've ever bought firewood it was from a kid that I knew his father and I wanted to help the kid out. He cut it, split it, delivered it and stacked it. Good deal all around.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.
