I had one catch fire due to a small diesel leak, only thing saved us was wet fields. We threw handfuls of wet dirt on the block and put it out. I carry a fire extinguisher on mine now. Great advise!

Absolutely good advise. My brother nearly burned his backhoe to the ground a few years ago. Had to hand shovel field dirt to slow it down and then took off to get an extinguisher from his house 1/4 mile away to put it out. Lost a few hoses. He immediately went out and put extinguishers on all of his equipment.

I caught a 10” bushhog on fire once and burned about 15 acres.
Cutting an overgrown field on a dry windy November day and weeds and grass built up on the bushhog about 1’ thick on top of the gear box that unbeknownst to me was running dry due to a leak and ultimately set the tinder on top of the bushhog on fire.
