My inground pool has a leak, I have tried and tried to find the leak but keep coming up short. I have went around the steps, skimmers, returns, lights, everything and can't seem to find it. Any of you ever dealt with this? How did you find it and fix it?

You could gradually lower the water line below skimmer then wait.... then next possible leak area.... etc until you stop seeing a loss of water. Maybe a better way but that is the first thought I had. Hopefully not leaking at your bottom drain.

Assuming it's not vinyl. We had a leak and had a dang expensive pressure test done and turned out to be the joint at the skimmer. They cleaned it out and resealed it.

I would guess that once water drops to just below where it is leaking it will stop leaking, so if water level stops dropping then your leak should be just above that spot.

BIL does this on occasion, he works on pools. He uses a dye at the most obvious spots first. The skimmer, steps (insert), and light. Like already said. Just have to go real slow. If it’s not there. Then you may need someone to come over with scuba equipment and check the main drain. Or look for cuts in the vinyl.

American Leak Detection found ours worth the phone call for sure, they have someone come out and dive, and they check everything

I can’t add to this, but there are some good points that have been posted. We have used everything mentioned. It’s a process. I guess I missed it, is it a vinyl pool? If so, it’s way past time to get a new liner. We usually get about 8-9 years or so out of one, less now that we have renters at that house.

American Leak Detection gave ours a look with dye and a pressure test. Left a bulb in one of the pipes. Whoops. Turned out it was an age crack in the liner at the bottom of the deep end. A few years later we switched from chlorine to dirt. Haven’t had a leak problem since.

I had a leak in mine so I let the water go down until it stopped. Once I knew where it was leaking between the pump and where the water comes back into the pool. I found a product called pipefuze followed the directions and it has been going for 3 years with no more leaking. Saved me a lot of money and time.
