It is unbelievable how they get on these huge deer. This one is one hoss of a stud.

I mean really..........Bill Winke, Lee Lakosky, Bill Jordan have hunted some premiere real estate for many years and not killed the sheer number of high scoring bucks this dude has. Can't figure where he keeps all his horseshoes. lol His checkbook. He pays for the intel on location of these deer and then pays for permission.

One doesn’t simply drive to a city 3-4 states away, and just meander around and happen upon 180-200” deer consistently. Even in Atlanta it would be tough to find a buck over 150” just randomly. Got to give these guys credit, they found a way to make their hunting hobby a business and that enables them to spend more time (and money) in pursuit of giant bucks. The biggest hindrance to average joes killing big bucks is hunting where those bucks are. The second biggest hindrance to the average Joe killing big bucks is having the free time to hunt.

Not as hard when you run multiple cell cams in multiple states with no family or job responsibilities. When the big buck you are hunting daylights, you can be there the next am etc. That’s how they do it.

That one guy spook whatever said it on some podcast I saw a short on too. I mean common sense tells you that even with no job or responsibilities, you still wouldnt consistently find and kill deer of that caliber on your own, without help, free range, legally. One of the above must not be true to achieve results such as that dude does. Who else puts YouTube videos out routinely killing 170”+ bucks on permission pieces or “leased” pieces even? These guys pay for intel and pay for permission on deer they find, similar to a big YouTube turkey hunter everyone loves to watch.

I’ve always liked their content. I believe you shoot’em where you can find them. Hunting neighborhoods isn’t my thing but someone needs to do it to keep things in check. I agree. Hunting in town or even on smaller places surrounding towns isn't much fun. I've done it and it is an easy way to get meat. But, I like to hunt large parcels (public and private). I'd rather be where I can't hear people, dogs, or cars. But that is getting tougher every year.

He’s got a whole network of people scouring the internet and the entire country looking for these deer. These people have their own networks, who have their own networks. It’s known within these groups that they can sell information on these giant bucks. A finders fee so to speak. Once the deer and its location is confirmed, he can roll in there and start “knocking on doors” as he likes to say. He conveniently fails to mention the insane amounts of money he throws around for this access. Do you really believe a deer of that magnitude exists in an area where everyone is hunting him and that there’s landowners in the immediate area that are untapped by hunters? He just offers that much more money than regular hunters are willing to pay, and I’ve even read where he guarantees a certain amount if he kills his target buck. Like “I’ll give you $1k to let me hunt your tiny lot, but I’ll throw in another $15k if I kill a deer.” He knows going in that there’s only 1 deer he’s willing to shoot, and it’ll be worth his money.
I’d bet the farm that if any one of us had the location of a 200” buck, you could have Ellis on the phone within the hour.

Bingo. Exactly right. Thank you sir. Kinda like the young boys around here killing all the ducks every year. “Man they’re just awesome duck hunters! They shoot limits every weekend!” I hear a lot. No, they just pay other boys for the info and pay other boys to sit on holes all night while they sleep in their own bed. Roll in about 5 am and let the hole watcher go home. One of the best ones told me that to my face. More power to him. Doesn’t interest me in the slightest. Kind of defeats the purpose of why I hunt.

One of the best ones told me that to my face. More power to him. Doesn’t interest me in the slightest. Kind of defeats the purpose of why I hunt. I have an acquaintance that does this. He has killed a good bit of B&C bucks and a few over 200" to boot. Top that off he isn't even 40yrs old yet. He was telling me last season, that in any given year he has on average two farms locked down that possess a known 200" deer. Some farms he locks up due to just having a high caliber deer with potential to reach 200". He will tie them up for multiple years until that particular buck reaches full potential. Dude offers money to hold the farm and then there is a fee he pays once he harvest the deer. In some cases, the landowner wants all the cash up front. Last year he spent $125k on lease rights for just himself and that was a low year.. There is definitely a network of individuals that participate in this "pay to play" game. Not much difference that paying a HF outfitter in my opinion.
