I shot a round into a plastic drum of water and caught the bullet. I really like what I saw. 7-08 120gr. [Linked Image][Linked Image][Linked Image][Linked Image]

I don't hunt with anything but ttsx bullets anymore they are devastating on a deer when pushed fast.

Be interesting to see what it looks like around 1800 fps.

I've only used them in a 300 Weatherby at 3300 FPS MV and I know they work very well out to 350 yards.

I do have my doubts about them at 1800 FPS impact velocity.

I'm going to give Hammer bullets a try in my 257 Roy. 3900 FPS MV should have plenty of speed for expansion to 5-600 yards and hold on hair trajectory out to 400 yards.

Other then in Sonora Texas, I have no place I hunt now that I can shoot at an animal far enough to worry about that. Most shots are well under 200yds. I’m still planning on loading some accubonds to see how well they shoot.

I don’t like what I’ve read about how Hammer bullets perform. The long range deal is what keeps me from trying barnes bullets.

My cfe223 load with the 120gr barnes ttsx has an avg muzzle velocity of 3207fps. It does well on paper. I’m ready to try it out on some deer.

That’s impressive. My load with Varget averages 3050fps and shoots extremely well out of the Tikka. I’m also ready to see how if will perform on deer. I have a pretty good idea.

Hammers are the real deal! Been running them in 6mm creeds for a few years. 88 & 101 grain. They killed deer faster than anything I’ve ever tried. Easy to find an accurate load too.

That should be a great combo. I couldn’t get mine to stay together out of a 7mag. The petals sheered off over 3000 fps.

Just loaded up some 90 gr Absolute Hammer bullets with H4350 for my 257 Roy yesterday. Looking to get 3900 fps with this bullet and hold on hair trajectory out to 400 yards.

Also loaded 190 Hammer HHT bullets over Big Game powder in my 338 06 AI.

I went out to Southwest Texas Aoudad hunting. The guide said they were like little Cape Buffalo; you don't get a pass through, and they don't bleed. He weighed about 350lbs. 300 Yard shot blew through both shoulders and bled like crazy. 308 168gr TTSX. When we got to it, he said, "now tell me again about those bullets".

So I sent a few 130TTSX out of my 300 today just a few 3 shot groups with H4350 77gr got me 3602avg 80gr got me 3715avg both roughly moa at 100 I can probably tighten them up with seating depths but 7828ssc did the best with the 130ttsx group wise 3499fps avg and 3/4 in group.

They'll work fabulously on whitetails but I'd bet you get caliber size exits as the petals will break off at those speeds. I got caliber size exits with 130gr TTSX out of my 30-06.

I've posted pics of my exits with a 270stw and 130ttsx at 3600 they are far from caliber size.

300yds quartering away. I probably have a few more but this one is better than normal most are double or triple cal size. Also no bone hit here

Well I killed the first deer with the 7-80 120gr Barnes TTSXs. Shot was 190yds. I hit it a touch back but it still dropped in its tracks and was dead pretty quick. Complete pass through and major trauma to rear of the lungs and part of the liver. Hitting it a little back was my fault as apparently I have to get used to that light trigger. It’s 2.5lbs which some would not consider light but it is for me. I guess I was a little nervous and put a little to much pressure as I was tucking in and the gun to squeeze the trigger. A little more bench time and I should be ok with it. Anyway I killed the first buck with the new rifle and my hand loads. It was a nice little 8pt that will make some great sausage.
