I noticed something interesting this week and thought I would share. I live in metro Atlanta and teach high school band. There are always deer tracks all over our band practice field. This week I walked about 10 yards inside the tree line behind my tower and there is heavy browse and deer poop all over the place. Goes to show that deer get conditioned to their surroundings, noise, activity, people, and as long as they don’t feel threatened can live everywhere. Makes you realize that when you don’t go in the woods during the off months and suddenly put lots of pressure on a property when deer season opens how the deer seem to predictably vanish. Too bad I can’t hunt out of my band tower and have to drive 4 hours to get in a deer stand 😂

I cut my teeth hunting a spot like that in Atlanta, and it was unbelievably good. Right behind GSU’s baseball field. If I would’ve known better what I was doing I would’ve been the Seek One guys before it was cool. I remember the first time I hunted back there prob 130” 8 point was standing right where I wanted to hunt. He bounced off a few times watched me climb up in my climber then came back in. Of course a made a terrible shot and never found the deer.

Some of the biggest bucks are in and around metro Atlanta. My sis lived up near Emory on 2.5 acres and had 15-20 pass thru their years almost daily
