I have found that if a buck is gonna show interest in a grunt call then they will typically start responding to it on the first grunt…..That doesn’t mean that they’ll come running in but rather most of the time they’ll come in cautiously and hang up just out in the distance waiting to see or smell what they heard. By continually blowing on your call another 4,5,6,7 times…..you’re just giving away your location and likely never even realizing it. This season try blowing your grunt call once or twice on a cold still morning then set it down and just listen for awhile smile

I’ve found that mature bucks just circle down wind of where the sound comes from and then they are gonna bust you anyways. I don’t like em except to stop a deer to shoot.

Agreed. Same reasoning applies to gobblers.. If he responds shut up. He about knows the tree you’re on and more calling only helps pinpoint location where the hen should appear.

If you're up in a tree in a cold morning you have a few hours where thermals are in your favor......Other than that I agree though......Most people would probably be better off not blowing it at all......

I’ve killed a few doing it. I love to blind call in the rut in the am. They like to do this but I tend to do it more when I can watch the downwind side wtc

Used grunt call to briefly stop one long enough to shoot. 8 point trailing a doe stopped and was looking for source and I was able to shoot it. Honestly not sure I’ve ever just grunted and called one in. Maybe a young one.

Grunt calls are a gimmick and spook 99.99 of deer in Alabama beat to focus on scent control

I've called them in, I've stopped a buck and Im sure I probably scared more than that .. Had a mature buck in Greenville that was going the opposite way come straight me after a grunt. I like the one I have, I think it's an old Hayden, you inhale to use. Nice and deep. So as far as I can say, it's helped as much as I have schooled them.....
