Hog " Hunting " now probibited in Kentucky. https://fw.ky.gov/InvasiveSpecies/Pages/Wild-Pig-Home.aspxCall in your Hog sightings for State Trappers ( they are at least implying that) " Wild Pigs arrived in KY in the back of pickup trucks". Lowlifes who did that should be beat. Sorry. Landowners have some actionable rights to stop damage they see. I kind of found this extrordinary and thought others would enjoy. Ya gotta give em' points for not taking it laying down. " Yes Officer, I have a Hog I'd like to report ".

That’s how the hogs got started here where I live. Some guys trapped some hogs in another area and released them on a property they had for hunting so they could have hogs to hunt in the off season. Them dumb phucks didn’t think that through. With in 2 years they are everything they had and ran every deer off that ridge in that marsh. A hungry hog will travel and they ended up here. In Louisiana it supposed to be illegal to transport live wild hogs anywhere but it’s happening. I don’t agree with everything in that article but I do believe hunting and shooting hogs is the worst thing possible for trying to get rid of hogs. Trapping the sounders and large groups is the only way to control them.

I have to agree with Matt.
Since banning sport hunting of them in Tennessee the hog problem has improved almost 100%. It allowed the TWRA and USDA to trap them effectively without people continually moving them around to hunt.
The hot areas here are due to Alabama’s non response and willingness to trap them in the western part of Lauderdale.

That type of legislation is the ONLY thing that has saved several states from complete hog infiltration. It’s where every state should’ve started before the problem occurred. States that have tried this don’t have hog problems. States that allow hog hunting have hog problems, because that opportunity is there, and there are ppl who will dang sure ensure they will always have them, by illegal transport into new areas. Like it or not, it’s needed in states with very small hog populations. I hate the dang things. The stiffest penalties should be enforced for anyone moving a live hog illegally. ^ Fact!

You ever had hogs on your property or have to deal with the crop damages and monetary loses due to hogs? I probably already know the answer. As I said, anyone who wants hogs to hunt has never had to deal with them on property they own.

We have seen 2 hogs on our place over the years. About 10 years ago I had been at the farm on a bowhunt and left my son in law there to hunt another day. He called me while I was driving home and said there were 2 hogs in the field beside the camp. I told him to do whatever he could to kill them, and he did. He emptied 2 mags from a 45 but got them both. It was a gilt and and a boar, and we haven't seen any since. If we had let them go, I don't know what might have happened.
I hate hogs and I do intend to kill them at any opportunity if they are on our land.

Did anybody even read the info pages on the DCNR site? Hahahaha. Are you kidding? You knew the answer to that before asking. Matt's 100% right about what Kentucky is doing. Missouri has done the same thing and for the moment has knocked back the problem in the SE corner of the state. They're attempting to stop it before it gets out of hand. It appears to have worked, so far I think, on the LBL, too.

Good for y'all. They need to be exterminated with impunity with any means necessary 24/7/365, without some special permit or fee or anything.

I would have to agree also, I have seen what they can do to crop land in MS and also in AL.....when a sounder comes in, they can create a world of hurt in one night to any crop and the fields....some of the holes that they root up are 1-2 ft deep and 10 ft wide.....imagine trying to drive around on that in a field or how much crop production is loss.....
