Some of the rumors are the sheriff was not in uniform and was choking the kid when he shot him.?? Maybe that’s what’s holding them up from capital murder or manslaughter

Always two sides to the story and the truth. Bad business either way.

I was not there so I don't know. I'd think anyone choking you out is shootable. Again I don't know what happended but you've got about 6 seconds of oxygen before you pass out.

My place is down the road from shooting. A dear friend owns the store where shooting occurred. Retired Sherrif's deputy is my neighbor. From Hayneville Blue bloods to regular people everywhere within 10 miles of shooting have all talked about how great and good "Big John" was as a man and Sheriff.

With all my heart I just hope people when I gone talk any about me.

Big John was/is flat out loved in that community.

There’s a lot of things surrounding this case that weren’t made public. Hence the mistrial I assume. Either way, it’s a terrible situation.

Used to be in a club 10 minutes from Hayneville and stopped at that store regularly when passing through town. I had stopped at that store the day he was murdered and can remember wanting justice to be delivered that day with extreme prejudice when I heard what happened.

I was NOT there, and I don't know if any of this is even remotely true, so take it for what it's worth. Bunch of kids going to a party, at a farm or hunting leases, ect. Gate was locked, kids went to store to wait on someone to bring key. Sheriff comes because of large gathering at store. Sheriff was out of uniform. Kid pulls up late sees a large man holding his buddy. Goes up tells man to let his buddy go, man turns around grabs him pull a gun. Kid shoots man with gun. Man with gun turns out to be un uniformed sheriff. I believe I heard this on wfsa, but not sure. And again, I say, I don't know anyone even remotely involved with this so none of maybe true.

Sad situation but sounds like the retired sheriff should have called in the uniformed officers to handle.

Had the disrepectful kids just turned down the music as asked or moved on, none of this would have happened. Very sad situation on both sides of the story.

12 jurors and four alternates were selected to hear the case against Johnson. Fourteen of the jurors are women.

He was the sheriff, not the retired sheriff. Just fyi on that.

They are afraid to condemn somebody.
