I’m yella and have been for years. Had really bad experience with customer service but it was too expensive to switch to Milwaukee. Had a 1/4 impact crap out within a month and both Lowe’s and dewalt sucked on it. Didn’t have the receipt but Lowe’s showed that I bought it there. Dewalt said they fixed it but they didn’t. First gear had no power but they said it met specs. I’ve had 2 more and it didn’t work properly.
Someone stole it from my truck so that ended that.

Makita. I've got batteries that are 8 yrs old and still going strong. I've got a drill and impact that have been dropped on concrete so many times I can't count and still getting after it.

I have dewalt everything. I have the 1/2” impact and it has broken loose everything it’s touched…..until this week. I have a bush hog blade bolt that will not budge even with the 1/2”. My neighbor has a 3/4” Milwaukee impact. He says it’ll break it. If it does, then I’ll probably be spending some money and will own my first pc of Milwaukee power tool.

Dewalt and milwaukee. Was exclusively Dewalt but have added milwaukee as they have some tools way before the other major brands make their own version.

they are all pretty equal, some are cheaper and some are slightly better. buy a big name that you think will still be around in 20 years. I have ridgid and it seems like they aren't promoting it anymore or investing in it. batteries are half the price of the big names though.

Milwaukee for me. 3 impacts, a grinder, 3 grease guns, a drill, a pole saw, two work lights, and a leaf blower. Only issue is one grease gun only works on low speed. Still using batteries that are over 10 years old with no issues.

If I had to choose one and only one brand , for all tools I need , it would be Dewalt .

I bought Rigid a while back. It’s not like Dewalt or Milwaukee but I got no complaints. I’ve had a drill and impact driver for a while but I bought a circular saw and a reciprocating saw last week. RIGID brand works fine for my piddling around. Got mine at Home Depot.

I bought an ATLAS pole chainsaw at HF and it’s worked well.

If you're just starting out and needing a lot of tools, Harbor Freight is your friend. As you wear those tools out, lost or stolen, whatever, replace them with a system that's more expensive. It took me a decade to wear out the original cheap Skil tools I purchased. Found an ACE hardware going out of business. Buddy and I bought one of everything they had and it was a good start. I still have a few of them. I started replacing with the Dewalt 20v system recently. So far I've got two drills, an impact driver, reciprocating saw and leaf blower on that system. My son is now on the same system, so if we ever need a quick battery to finish a job, one of us has them charged and ready. I didn't have a real reason to choose Dewalt over Milwaukee. Yellow is easier for me to find in my cramped workshop than red. Otherwise, it really didn't matter. The overall selection of available tools should make a difference for anyone. Most tools available on both brands, I really don't need.

I know I've found off market batteries that work with Dewalt at other locations like Harbor Freight. Not sure if Milwaukee is the same. I also built a new crawlspace robot that is powered by the 20v Dewalt battery.

Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.
