looking into getting a used Polaris Ranger for farm and some hunting. Confused by the different models....500, 570, 700, 800, 900, 1000, 150 etc etc etc

any advise?

The numbers are the size of the engine. Not sure what your intended use is or how much of a load you’re hauling but I have a 570. It’s a six seater. It hauls 4 grown adults, feed a cooler of beer and a couple deer with no problems. I would recommend the power steering though.

Yep. Size of engine and machine.
I have the 570 crew also. Takes three acres to turn around but
My family fits on it. Perfect for cruising through the woods. Mud holes are a different story.
There is not much ground clearance on stock wheels and such.
But I haul hundred and hundreds of lbs to fill feeders up at the club.
If you don’t need the crew. I would not be scared to buy the one seater. I really
Wanted that one instead but not everyone would fit.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

My phone screen does not always work right, usually a lot of misspelled words....

I bought a used 500 that runs really well; not sure how big your place is but on only 14 acres I couldn’t use more power however, I think the xp is supposed to be a bit bigger and would fit a big guy like myself better that said, price was right so im good to go.

And power steering would make one handed steering while spraying with the wand easier. When using a boom no problem

570 should be enough unless you have lots of hills.

It be's that way sometimes.

In terms of newer ones, I think there’s only the 570 and 1000…you can get mid size and full size with both I think. I have been looking hard at a 570 full size one seater. Don’t need the crew plus when the kids are old enough, I’ll put my yeti in the back and they can sit on it.

Best part about my 570 crew is anytime I ride it with my boys around the house or at the hunting land they crawl in the bed. Got a whole empty backseat but I guess at 13 and 7 it’s more fun to ride in the bed if you’re not driving.

Stay away from the 800 if you can . Polaris had the motors right under the front seats and they get hot , almost annoying . It’s worth the money to get either a 900 or a 570 .

Don’t get a 800.

900 are good to go.

570 is most likely all you need unless routinely hauling large loads.

I’ve got a 2019 500 mid size. No problems so far. Only negative I can tell you is they’re a lot easier to flip over than you realize. Found that out last year.

What ever you buy spend the extra money for power steering!

As mentioned above, power steering is a must. I didnt get it when i bought mine in 2013 but after owning it for a few months i installed an aftermarket kit. Night and day difference.

If you dont need the bigger bed look at polaris generals. If you want the larger bed go with the ranger but no way would I get the 2 seater. It takes a 40 acre field to turn that limousine looking contraption around.

Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

I have an 800 and it can get a bit warm on the odd midsummer ride. But it’s toasty once it warms up on those cold late season trips and that’s what I use it for most.

Got the very same year and model. Bought it new. I haven't rolled it yet though. So far it's had all of the power that I need and been completely trouble free until last week when it has started skipping a little. I don't know if it's a fuel issue, injector, or a firing problem yet. I guess that brings up the question about who's the resident Aldeer side by side mechanic?

I have a ‘14 900XP crew. It has over 7k miles on it and still runs great and has plenty of power. I’ve had to replace some parts over the past few yrs and it’s pretty easy to work on if something comes up. I’ll echo the power steering. Mine has it and makes all the difference in the world.

I have an 8 year old basic 570 and a 2022 1000 crew. As has already been said get power steering no matter what u get. I use the 570 for work, mainly seeding, dragging, spraying and such. The crew I mainly bought because I wanted to be able to have room for family and guests. That said I use the crew for pretty much everything because it has an incredible ride and power steering.
