Any peanut buying points near you? Ones near me will all but give you scrap nuts (they call them LSK’s loose shelled kernels). Be worth a try.

It’s all the same thing, coming from a guy that’s tried it all.

Patience is better then any feed or attractant on the ground. Once he shoots a couple times at that feeder, the deer will no longer visit it during daylight hours. That’s when you need to hunt the natural food sources on your side the line. Just sit back and wait for the big one to walk out.

I know of a similar situation where a guy went to his barber shop and put all the cut hair in a bag and threw it out in his neighbors green fields. Dude didnt kill a deer that year. In this case, both of those guys were #1 assholes……..

40 years ago when I got on my first deer lease, I was on a shoestring budget. I couldn't afford a automatic feeder and corn and a fancy deer blind. My first year was a small hut made out of discarded pallets set on top of a hill. I had two open spots to shoot at from that location. I put a protein block in both spots two weeks before opening day. The night before I hunted each time I poured a jar of Old Grandma's molasses on each block. I drew a lot of deer to those two spots.

Did that work because you were the only one baiting 40 years ago?

People been killing deer over bait for as long as they’ve been hunting them.

the biggest deer i ever got on camera was at a bag of oats poured on a salt block. The bag had been in my truck and I thought it was a bag of corn.
Went by co op and got rye wheat oats to plant foodplot and some corn. Planted plots (drycast before rain) put out salt block and pulled "bag of corn" to the edge of tailgate to dump on top of saltblock in front of camera and thats when I realized it was oats. It was the last bag ii was putting out. Figured what the hell. Was surprised when stud showed up. Co op guy said oats is like 20% protien. From then on I poured a bag of oats on the corn pile. Scattered a little in plot if rain was coming for some young tender new growth.

That year was the first time putting out salt blocks and was kinda surprised how good they worked.
