So here’s a question for the shoot more does crowd……Sticking with the Bibb Co example with them killing 2000 bucks and 1700 does…….If you did try to balance the ratio through doe harvests like is being suggested…..Could Bibb Co handle killing another 300 does per year and sustain that long term without the overall population decreasing?? What about if we take and apply these ideas to counties like Marshall……Could Marshall handle doubling its doe harvest to try and match the bucks being killed??......... It’s site specific CNC. I only recommend whatever doe harvest is needed to accomplish landowner objectives. There’s not one answer to every situation. I do know the properties I’m managing are some of the best places to hunt and have a quality experience. Also, the majority of habitat in AL is not in good condition. It’s awful as a matter of fact. There’s a lot of places I visit that aren’t reaching the populations potential because they’re being held back by poor timber and habitat management.

My cams are showing almost equal numbers of does and bucks at the moment, assuming I don't have multiple does, yearlings, and fawns family groups that are taking turns visiting the sites at similar times on different days.

You’re also relying on ppl equally entering does and bucks in GC. I am tell you with certainty, they are not.

Yeah, the ratios are likely a little worse than what's being shown.........

I will say, even though we have good habitat, the doe population is not BOOMING. But our ratios and hunting experiences have been great the last several years. I hunt about 5-6 dif areas and each one has just about an equal amount of bucks and does from what I’m seeing. All my areas are within 5-6 miles, pretty close. My local competition keeps most of the does in check. We shoot about 3 a year between 5 of us for the freezer and usually 1-2 bucks a piece. I’m very picky about where and when I shoot a doe.
Everything woke turns to shucks

I see the same deer every morning and afternoon. Problem is there is a ton of feed between the two bridges and only you and one other guy shooting them. Been like that for at least 10 years or so. Note that I did see one really big body deer in the hayfield about 6 weeks ago. He/it was a stud. Definitely caught my eye when I crossed the county line. Saw him twice in two weeks and too foggy the other time to see a rack from where he was standing. Might be at least one out there for you. I got pictures and videos thru my spotting scope if you want to see him
We will burn that bridge when we get there

Sure, just PM me on here. He may get crazy around Christmas and head down the creek a few miles and show up on my camera.

WHo in lamar county is shooting all those does? Are you familiar with lamar co? No Lamar Co has a VERY high deer density and there’s no shortage of ppl willing to drop the hammer.
