So I put up a blind on a new area that had a small pond and a ton of tracks all around it. What time of day would y’all sit it? I’ve got a few places with feeders but I’m thinking about hunting it during dawn to mid day since it will be hot- What’s y’alls input?

That’s always the best time of day to hunt my place. Got some nocturnal sons of guns around here.

That’s why I want to hunt it. It near a large bedding area and it’s loaded with tracks. I’ve just never hunted a pond before and was trying to figure out when would be the best time. I’ve got one area that is pretty busy at night but not so much in the morning

Don't think it would matter. They get plenty of water from dew this time of year so I would assume if one stopped at the pond it would be whenever one happened to walk by it. I don't think they will go out of their way to hit it early or late

Throw a camera or two on it for a week. That should answer your question.

mid day on warm days.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Thanks! I’m heading down for a few days and I’m hoping with the warm weather and dry conditions where I hunt I’ll see some activity

Deer will eat, drink, do everything the most during dawn and dusk. They are hard wired for that. Heat will make them move even less mid day, not more. They will be bedding mid day in heat, not traveling for water in my opinion. A few hours before sunset would be my best guess for a good time to hunt water - hoping to catch them grabbing a drink just as they start moving for the evening feeding.

I like the midnight to 4 but I'd say 10 P to 4 A. I have a pond in my pasture about 80 yards from my back door. It has tracks all around the shallow end. I only see them around it in that time frame. They may use the small one in the woods during the day, not sure.

Deer will get up mill around any time of the day . They'll grab a bite to eat or drink if it's close

If in a drought they may key in water. As far as time of day. I seed more bucks in the hottest part of the day out in the open like bean fields and cutovers. We’ve been at the barn, August at 11am and already hotter than jades and 5 bucks walk within a hundred yards and feed on beans. I’ve jumped mature bucks in cutover on the sunny side of hills.

My WAG would have to do with bugs not out at those times and places.
