So I bought a new Swarovski z3 3-10-42 plex scope. The scope only has two knobs but they push/pull out. I have researched and read owners manual but can’t figure out what that is for. Any help is greatly appreciated. I get one is for setting zero on the scope.

Top knob is for the horizontal crosshair and the side knob is for the vertical crosshair. After zeroing your scope, you can pull the turret out til it clicks to move it back to zero without the crosshairs moving then push it down to engage the splines of the erector assembly.

This only matters if you ever plan on dialing for distance and need to count clicks. IMO Z3 turrets are better suited for set & forget status.

Thanks. Then I must have some other problem because we are shooting 6 inches right and the scope cannot be moved anymore.

That likely points to holes in the receiver drilled out of square, or a problem with the mounts.

Rings and bases are Talley lightweights which was recommended. I have always used dnz mounts

Does the turret have to be in a certain spot to zero the scope.

Talley makes excellent rings/bases. So does DNZ.

Is this a new rifle?

Next step for me would be remove everything from the rifle, center the reticle on the scope, and re-mount.

If you have a small square, you can check the mounting hole alignment when you take off the rings. You could check the rings the same way.

I have mounted well over 200 scopes in the last 10 years or so. I have never found a bad Talley ring, but I have found 2 rifles, one lower priced, and one very expensive, that had the mounting holes drilled slightly out of square. Both rifles were replaced by the manufacturers.

Leupold has made an adjustable scope base forever with two set screws where the rear scope ring goes that can probably correct the issue if Kimber doesn’t warranty the issue if the base holes are indeed drilled wrong on the receiver

Leupold along with a lot of others.... This has been the solution for this problem for near 100 years maybe longer. The good news is... it also works. 100% of the time. BUT.... If you can't figure it out after you've been told and think buying rings with Talley on the package is all you need to do.... that might not work out for you. You didn't mess up trying them but if they don't work they don't work.

You can also get Burris Signature rings as they are also adjustable in this way through the ring insets themselves not the base.

Consider this might be a common issue? Given that there are multiple solutions readily available....

Regardless if you like them or not.... Things work they way they do in this world sometimes for a reason. There isn't a thing wrong with a set of Leupold Rings and bases. Re-mount with something different than the Talleys you bought for it and be done with this.
