I don’t mean this bad towards friends and family by any means, and it may sound selfish. But I told my wife about a family friend that passed away several years ago sitting at the base of his ladder stand, that if I go in the woods or on the water it would be a lot better than in the nursing home or battling cancer… Prayera for the family and friends Amen, we should all be so lucky to live a long life and meet our maker doing what we love. Prayers lifted for his friends and family. Terrible news. Prayers for the man's family in this painful time.

I cannot confirm but the word I got from a solid source was he fell from the stand. Wear the harness and tie off boys. Praying for the family he sounded like a good man

Yeah, I agree, that beats going out with cancer, family or others taking care of me with dementia or Alzheimer's, parkinson's, etc. Prayers are offered up for the family.

Anymore Updates on this Sad Story? Just Wondering if it has been Confirmed, that it was in fact a Tree Stand Accident. Don’t think it was a tree stand accident at all, I’ll leave it at that..

Someone on here mentioned they heard his stand was still in his car when they located his car...prayers for the family.

My hiking app says if you go into bankhead, take a compass and a map.
Hate to hear about the hunter passing away.
The news report said he was found only 400yds from his vehicle; so probably not lost. RIP to the hunter.

He wasn’t lost. He fell from stand off a bluff. They believe he was coming down and fell. I saw a local report from a Hunstville station that indicated the same. Sounds like they believe it was an accident. Being public land, I'd guess it was a climber? I would like to know if it was ladder or climber. I stay on the ground now, Never liked being up in a tree.
