I could never shoot a dog. I would wait a week and talk to the neighbor. Tell him somebody killed his dogs over by your feeder while you were out of town on business.

Dogs are neither human nor special. Do what you need to do.

If the owners cared, their animals wouldn't be roaming, and if the owners don't care, not sure why anyone else would either. It's just a dog, for pete's sake.

Yep!! Kinda like the people who live on the river that stop me and ask if it’s ok to shoot nuisance alligators. I just tell it would have been if you wouldn’t have asked if it’s ok. I tell them that what people don’t know don’t hurt. Do what you have to do and be quiet. With that said, if I knew who the dogs belonged to, I’d start with talking to them. I’d put the ball in their court to solve the problem.

You should read up on animal cruelty laws in the Alabama criminal code. Dogs occasionally do get out even if the owner tries to keep them up.


§13A-11-14. Cruelty to animals. Latest version.
(a) A person commits the crime of cruelty to animals if, except as otherwise authorized by law, he or she recklessly or with criminal negligence:

(1) Subjects any animal to cruel mistreatment; or

(2) Subjects any animal in his or her custody to cruel neglect; or

(3) Kills or injures without good cause any animal belonging to another.

(b) Cruelty to animals is a Class A misdemeanor and on the first conviction of a violation of this section shall be punished by a fine of not more than three thousand dollars ($3,000) or imprisonment in the county jail for not more than one year, or both fine and imprisonment; on a second conviction of a violation of this section, shall be punished by a fine of not less than five hundred dollars ($500) nor more than three thousand dollars ($3,000) or imprisonment in the county jail for not more than one year, or both fine and imprisonment; and on a third or subsequent conviction of a violation of this section, shall be punished by a fine of not less than one thousand dollars ($1,000) nor more than three thousand dollars ($3,000) or imprisonment in the county jail for not more than one year, or both fine and imprisonment.

Seriously doubt these are escapees. I've got them on camera no less than ten times in the last month and a half. Owning an animal also comes with responsibility. You just don't let it roam everywhere and become a nuisance.

My neighbor has loose dogs to keep the deer out of their garden, they run deer across my place all the time. It aggravates me but being a good neighbor is more important than a deer to me. Even if it isn't to them

hell . shoot the deer . ive killed a drove of deer here that came a mile or two away in front of dogs . i never been picky .lol

i used to ride up to the top pasture , cut on the cb listen to where they were turning loose . id listen for the dogs , jump out the truck cut the deer off in the woods kill the deer catch the dogs call them on the cb tell them i had the dogs . theyd be pissed . lol

i killed a couple 8pts they was not pleased about at all . they got to where they stopped using the cbs but i could still hear the dogs . back then it was legal i dropped it . the way the land is set up it was perfect two spot they just funneled through . yeahhhhh ,,, then they ban dog hunting in my part of elmore county . was good while it lasted . some yankees , the sheriff and the GW had land there ,,,,soooo you know . lol
