Why not wear it. I take it off up in the stand. I don’t trust anyone really with a gun but myself. I wear a vest tbh after hunting in Tennessee with an orang hat on my pack.

I got checked by the GW opening day of bow season. I was walking out at dark and he was parked by my truck. He gave me a warning for not haven’t orange on and for not checking in to hunt the wma on the outdooralabama app.
Overall it was a good experience and I hope I see him out there more frequently.

How did you get a warning for the orange when I don’t think it’s required in bow season…

It is in the WMA regs.l but I had no idea. It doesn’t anpply to private lands. Orange has to worn during bow season unless you are enclosed in a blind or over 12’ up.

Orange is to protect the user, just like seat belts. I’m “pro” most anything that increases my chances of survival against the idiots of the world.

I’m all for wearing it on shared property. However, if someone shoots at me on my own property., they better not miss.

Anyone dumb enough to not positively ID their target before shooting is 💯 percent dumb enough to trespass. I’ll take the orange hat off once I’m settled in but there’s zero reason not to wear it while walking around unless you are the one trespassing or just stubborn to a fault.

If you aren't concerned about safety at least be concerned about someone walking in on you. I've accidentally walked in on someone only to be stopped by a flash of orange and vice versa. I don't want my hunt ruined or to ruin anyone else's.

Why would you NOT wear it? If you are in the woods (during deer rifle season), it is for your safety. If you do not wear it, you are not concerned for your safety. That's reckless.

It still doesn't work for some folks. Especially if there is a deer in between you and the other hunter.

I don't wear it if I can avoid it during deer season.

Your finger should NEVER be on the trigger until you have 100 % identified your target and made the decision to kill it.

There are NO ACCIDENTS. Only fools or people using that excuse to get away with murder.

I’ve been a hunter for most of my soon to be 73 yrs on this earth. The good Lord has blessed me thru most of it That being said. I know of 3 men who have been shot while deer hunting over those years 2 were shot by deer rifles and one with buckshot walking with his dad to a deer stand . They all survived but all have physical problems to this day. All were wearing hunters orange when shot .The young man shot with buckshot never found who shot him but the other men where shot by hunters who’s thought they were shooting deer. Yes I wear the orange .Always!

I don’t wear it because I’m worried about me shooting me!! I wear because I don’t know who is in the woods with us besides the regular guys I’ve been hunting with for years and years. It’s those “other” people I don’t trust. I don’t leave the camp without orange on at anytime during the season.

And some people should not be in the woods!!! If you can’t tell hunters orange from a deer, you do not need to be in the woods hunting!!
