I usually throw them on my shoulders and carry them out. One 30’ creek bank was a comedy show though. I think the farthest I’ve hauled one to a pickup point was around 700 yards. I usually end up with ticks on me too.

I stopped field dressing in like 1979

Those sleds are a pain in the ass. You did everything right up until the dang sled. Throw it in a backpack and walk out with it. Way easier that way than dealing with that sled.

Carts work fine on open dry land. But are more than worthless in mud, downed trees. Plus when I put sled in the bed of my truck with bed cover closed it works as an organizer. Instead of just taking up space like a cart.

It’s inevitable I have to drag or carry one through Cypress knees, just part of hunting.

I have a cart and a sled. I haven’t used the cart since I got the sled. I loan the cart out to others. The sled works way better for me and like hawndog stated, I use the sled year round in the bed of the truck. With a bedcover on the truck, I use the sled kind of like a drawer for the truck bed and I can easily get to anything by simply sliding it out. Most of the year it holds the kids baseball and softball equipment.
