Otis and Ruby teamed up to find a nice 8 pt this morning......Shot was just a little back.....He didnt go very far but he ran into some thick mess and took a left where the hunter thought he went straight.....The dogs had it worked out pretty quick

Recovered another buck for a young lady hunter this afternoon…..Shot was in the hind quarter……The deer had been jumped 50 yards inside the woods after they started tracking…..We found him roughly 200 yards from where he had been jumped……Didn’t find a single drop of blood after the jump bed…..

Apparently postimage isn't working again at the moment so I'll post a picture later. Went behind some other dogs and a drone in Jackson County. Muzz put him across the Tennessee River but he appeared to be fine. Was shot yesterday evening and jumped him around 10:30 today. That’s scary to me when they swim a big river…

I like the tracking stories. Have any of you had coyote encounters or issues with your dogs while tracking? I had a leg shot last year that had a yote already circling and harassing the deer when we found him…….He bounced off a little ways when he saw us coming but didn’t leave……The deer jumped and ran a couple hundred yards before the dog bayed it up and when we got to the bay the yote was back on him trying to bay him with the dog…..If we leave deer overnight they’re a constant nuisance to either run the deer off or eat them up but we get to them

Headed out to go look for two shot this morning......One is likely a low gut hit with white hair at the hit site.....hunter jumped the deer 75 yards inside the wood line......The second one was a big buck the hunter shot from straight on......deer nose dived after the shot and then took off....they say they have a bunch of meat at the hit site.....I figure he's boogered up a leg but maybe he got some of the chest cavity too....supposed to be a big one......
To be continued.......

The second track ended up just having some meat blown off the front leg……We tracked him 800 yards and never caught up with him and never found any blood…..Me and the hunter both decided that he was probably just flesh wounded and called it off…..That was a “leg hit” that will legitimately likely make it…..

This may add a little explanation to your leg hits not making it. If a lone or even a pair of hunting dogs can track and bay the injured deer, I'd bet a paycheck that a pack of yotes would. In the above instance, I'd guess they still have a chance to tire him out, but they would almost have to treat it like one that is 100 percent.

The one today probably just needed stitches…..The hunter said he wasn’t facing directly at him but was just slightly quartered to……He most likely just took meat off the front of the offside shoulder……
