Anyone had it? I think I’ve herniated a disc in my back….. See what the Drs. say. They will tell you if it is herniated or ruptured. My wife had surgery for a ruptured disc and was out of work for about a month. She's a teacher so she doesn't have any back straining tasks. Generally, from my understanding, for a herniated disk, which I've had before, they do other procedures before any type of surgery. I've got a lot of other issues with my back and I've been through the injections in the back three times. Those are done before any more drastic procedure but they will first start you with Physical Therapy. Then the shots. I've done plenty of both with little to no success. I think they are done to give your back time to heal itself, which it might for a herniated disk.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Knock on wood, I had good results for several years from a good chiropractor. If you go that route, ask around for recommendations from your friends and only use one that does adjustments. After awhile, it eventually got worse and my chiropractor said it was time to see an orthopedic that specialized in spinal problems. I saw him and he recommended an epidural. Over the last twelve years, I’ve had three and knock on wood, they’ve typically worked for several years between procedures. The last two relieved the weakness and numbness. All that said, every back injury is different.

I've had three lumbar fusions. The first in 99' the second in 02 and the last one was in 07'. My advise to you if you have a herniated disc would be to try the non invasive treatments first. Stay away from a chiropractor. Get a second opinion if surgery is recommended. My surgeries worked well for me.

I've had spinal blocks most of my life since 25 years old. Last November I had spinal fusion. They want in, expanded the collapsed joint, fused it open and were going to clean the damaged Cartlidge and disk out. The surgery took an hour less than expected. The cleanout part wasn't necessary. When they expanded the joint, the disc just fell out. It was that bad. I'd been living with that for decades. Recovery was relatively quick. Faster for me than my knee or shoulder surgery. Pain was minimal. It took maybe 2 months to be fully functional and that was well ahead of the expectations. Of all the surgeries I've had (firefighting was hard on me physically) that was not only the easiest but also the best turnout.

Yeah I’ve been using a chiropractor for a while. If the chiropractor will X-ray ok but if not he will do more harm than good. Then May still harm.

A good neurosurgeon or orthopedic surgeon will try the noninvasive treatments before recommending surgery. And Insurance requires it.

Exhaust every other option before having it done.Sometimes the outcome is far from positive… Thats what I’m doing but being told can put it off too long 🤷♂️ A friend has a terrible back and they won’t touch him.

Anyone had it? I think I’ve herniated a disc in my back….. A month ago i just went through this with the wife....had a discectomy....30 minute surgery. Back to work in a week. Results were very good....dr. wade in grandview....highly recommend. I had previously seen him for similar issues and he recommended epidurals vice surgery. I also know two other people who he has done surgery one with great results...good luck
