Gly, crossbow and a good surfactant work pretty good for me with a boomless sprayer that you can throw it high

Been doing it 14 years. He knows what he’s doing.

I won’t charge you K Bush, but a mix of Glyphosate and Triclopyr do an excellent job pruning roads. That’s about all I use. Works real well on almost everything like gums, pines etc that pop up on the ROW or branch out into the roadway, and it won’t kill the entire tree above it. I usually spray about 12-14’ up and that way I can mow my roads up to the tree line later without getting slapped by limbs.

Pole saw, hedge trimmmers and what I sweated over last year looks like it hasn’t been touched in years.

I’d do 3/4 oz of Garlon 4 per gallon of water with a good surfactant

Yeah. Sorry K Bush I didn’t come back to respond. The most I use is 1 oz/gallon with 4 oz of gly/gallon with surfactant. I’ve used 3/4 oz on most applications.

Great info here and similar to what I’ve used in the past.

We used to recommend Krenite all the time for side trimming on highways. Worked great for them as it never showed brownout that always got the DOT calls from the public. Instead, the part of the tree that was sprayed simply never leafed back out. It is a great bud inhibitor. It got so costly that no one uses it now.l, which is a shame. It was perfect for what it did.

I used gly back in the day because I didn’t have access to anything else. I’ll spray the roads at the farm with Garlon 4a in the mix now.

What type of sprayer are ya’ll using for road side pruning?

Will a fimco 3 boom UTV sprayer work for getting into the trees or do you need a 3 pt mounted sprayer to get high enough?

If it's the wet boom I think so. Those end nozzles rotate and I think you can get 12+ foot high with them.

Matt, can I spray dormant season post leaf fall (minus the gly of course), or do you recommend just waiting til Spring at this point? Also, I’m assuming I’ll expect some inevitable damage to clover planted in roadways.

Everything Ive mentioned is foliar active only, so if there’s not active growth on green leaves it’s not going to be effective. It will work right now on privet, but I’d spray on days it’s above 55-60 degrees. Yes, gly and Tri can both harm clover.
