What would that be & where to get it? I’ve had several large mounds pop up the last couple days & would love to put a small dent in the population while they are active.

Permethrin is what I used on fire ant hills. Same as I use on mosquitos and roaches. On a cold morning, they will be up close to the top of the hill looking for warmth. Just poke a hole in the top and when they come boiling out spray them down good. They will die and when their buddies come to remove them, they die too. I have done a bunch this way and the hill dies.

I've started using Bifen mostly because it can be used indoor also for normal home insect control at a lower dose. I bought a cheap HF sprayer and just keep it ready to go at all times. See a mound...spray a mound.

I use Bifen XTS and soak the mound with a sprayer. The fire ants come up and die instantly. Kills the whole mound and they don't move a few feet away and start again.

I started doing this a number of years back and haven’t had a single fire-ant mound since.
In the early Spring I buy a couple of bags of whatever fire-ant killer granules that are on sale at Lowe’s and I broadcast spread (handheld spreader) them all over my yard 2/3-acre. They either die or move to the neighbor’s yard.

Grits used to work. No telling with these modern day ants.
Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.
