Wife made what looked like a slam dunk shot on a nice buck this evening (I was watching thru my scope) i'm surprised he made it out of the field. Off side shoulder was flopping and we were in a bind to get to thanksgiving so I pushed him. We only waited a few minutes to climb down and go look for him. We bumped him and it sounded like he was struggling to get to his feet he went maybe 50 yards and bedded down. I tried to slip in to get another shot and he jumped up again. We backed out at this point and went to dinner. All of this took place in 150 yards of the shot sight. I'd say shot was 4pm.we were back at the truck at 4:30pm.We are going to give him several hours and go look.he was blowing blood out both sides. She was shooting my rifle and every deer we have ever shot with that rifle/bullet combo has been bang flop or went maybe 40 yards. I'd like to wait until the morning to go look but Im guiding some guys on a fishing trip tomorrow and I won't have time first thing in the morning to go look.

Shot was quartering away ever so slightly maybe 70 yards shooting house on the ground looked like it came out in the off side shoulder. Bright red blood with a few bubbles in it no bone a lot of hair at the hit site. I'm sick to my stomach at pushing him and normally I never would have if wasn't for the circumstances. I knew his ass was going to laying just inside the wood line. I'm thinking go back about 930 tonight with my fingers crossed

We don't have enough acreage where I last saw him to keep a dog on our property or I'd love to get one in there if we could. It's mining company land a couple hundred yards from where he was so if he crosses the creek he's gone.

Sounds like he was hit pretty good. I’d go look tonight if I could. Bet you find him pretty close to the last spot.

That sucks…….That’d probably be a pretty simple one…..If he’s hurt as bad as it sounds he likely wont even run…..Maybe she caught enough of the body cavity for him to weaken down before you go back……Go real slow and stay real quiet……..make sure you don’t have a bunch of people with you talking and he may let he walk right in on him…….

Brown hair from a quick glance but I usually find hair at the hit site. I just don't think he would have kept bedding if he wasn't hurt bad . Of the 100+ deer I've killed with a rifle or been a part of I've never had to deal with this. Just sick I got a buddy coming and we are gonna try to find him in a little while. If hes still alive he may not be hurt bad enough. But I could definitely see the exit wound as he ran off closer to the crease side of his shoulder.

Buddy of mine shot one through both shoulders low last night. Same scenario. Deer went 70 yards and was jumped up 1 hour after the shot. Backed out and we recovered him at 1:38 this am. Shot completely broke down one shoulder and clipped the heart. I think your deer will be there but be prepared to take another shot if necessary.
