I usually do pretty good on 1st and 2nd shots, but 3rd shot is mostly a guaranteed miss. Just seeing if yall have a good aim suggestion for going away climbing shots? I can’t figure it out. That 3rd shot is almost never a good one. What is y’all’s lead and aim on those?

The only reason I hunt ducks is to watch the dogs work.
Just pull thru and pull the trigger. Keep your face on the stock and keep the barrel moving. The biggest cause of missing that shot imo is pulling off the stock.
My hardest shot on the skeet range was always up and going away on the right side. It took a while to get used to shooting under those, instead of directly following on plane. Always start at the top of the group and work to the water, so you don’t have to chase as many on the way out! Doesn’t always work out that way, though.

100% that 3rd shot is usually looking up and trying to figure out what needs to change. By looking up I mean breaking cheek weld even as mild as getting your eyes off plane.

Yea that gets you in a corkscrew real quick! I like your thought process and I’m going to start trying that. I’ve been in the habit to focus on middle and go what appears next.
I was taught to say follow folllow follow 3 times as I swing the gun for the first shot. This makes you take aim and not throw up and pull the trigger. (which I had a bad habit of doing) The 3rd shot to me is a dang I’ve missed and I have one more in the chamber so use it. I’m not the best wing shooter but I get by.
I feel like my 3rd is way better than my 2nd. I think it is because I shoot the 2nd too fast after the 1st. Also think more times the 2nd bird dies before I shoot. Then I rush to find number 2. But, by the 3rd shot I concentrate harder and make a better shot.
Sometimes you gotta break out ol W-W for them high birds, 7in Magnum 4gauge never misses

Yessir! I’m always gonna shoot what makes me happy and I want everyone else to do the same! If you shoot one be proud of it and don’t worry what anyone else thinks. - SJ22
