A guy I know said they’ve had a good season so far but they have water and many do not. Also was told not seeing many on wheeler refuge. 🤷♂️

Talked with a friend today and we kept bouncing off where the ducks are figuring. We’re in a drought and there is very little water anywhere it normally is. Then asked where are the divers. They were the first to go missing on Pickwick years ago. One thing that happened was guys running into the rafts of ducks and blasting away. That kept being a reoccurring problem. Have any other hunters noticed the lack of blue bill, cans redheads and goldeneyes? He’s not seeing the beasts of ducks like he usually does and has been on the rivers almost since the 80s

I enjoyed those hunts almost as much as the timber shoots. You didn't need to worry about the hide, a few black and white decoys in a line to a wad of mallard decoys and you could shoot bluebills until you ran out of shells. That was the 90's and those areas are now a diver wasteland. Been years since I have seen a big raft of divers.

The Tennessee river system across north Alabama used to hold a good number. Years ago it was that rare to see an old squaw. Used to kill lots of goldeneyes up around Waterloo. Killed redheads in second creek. Several divers in spring creek. Rafts officers at his island at the head of town creek on wheeler.
My buddy’s saying one day last week he saw ducks in one spot on wheeler. In an area with lots of houses and that was the most he’d seen his year anywhere in the river.
