When my wife and I first visited Centerpoint Church back in the early 90's the pastor came to visit us. I had a couple of bass mounted on drift wood and the conversation turned to fishing which he loved also. Anyways we decided to go the next morning that he had some free time. I picked him up at the church at 5 in my boat and truck. On the way there he told me he had to quit at 9 and go visit an elderly lady in the church at the hospital. I told him that was fine I was working 3-11 shift so I would hunt or fish most mornings then catch a Power Nap before work. The early bite was nonexistent and the worm bite was dead also. Think early June conditions. About 8 it clouded up and it was on. He had one break him off on a pop r. Sometimes they will come up and sling a top water out. This one did and he went to catching them again. I was swimming a Buckner jig and catching some good ones. About 8:45 he said I am sorry but I told you I would have to quit at 9. I told him we can't leave these fish biting like this. I said let's run over here to bb comer bridge marina and you can call and tell her you got delayed. She may even have died and we will pray for her then fish another hour. He would have no part of it and we left. Through his friendship I learned what a real Christian man should act like. I also learned maybe I loved fishing to much lol That a Tim and Connie Buckner jig?

Yessir me and Bud Buckner worked and fished together. Tim made the jigs 10 for 12 jigs I still have several. Them Buckner boys was as good of bass fishermen as their ever was. I worked with their brother Dwight at warehouse groceries. They knew them bass like me and Daddy did Crappie. I am wore out tonight but I will tell you about me, big red , Charles Murphie, and Danny and Jerry and Bill Bogle spending our spring break in 1977 camped out at Weiss lake. There is things happened that week that we still laughed about I worked with Tim for years. Connie could catch em just as good as Tim , they won several Ranger boats. She beat many a man in big tourneys on Guntersville. She would have been a force in women's BASS early on, but she wouldn't drive a boat. Man I miss ol' Danny B.
