Was at a range shooting with two other fellows . They both had Springfield Model 2020 , carbon barreled, sporter rifles in .308. First guy was shooting some Federal Gold Metal 175 gr factory loads . He shot maybe 10 , they didn't print well. The other feller said let me try a couple . He put one in his Springfield and the bolt was tight closing . He decided to eject and take a look. When he opened the bolt the bullet stuck in the lands and it ejected just the case and powder went everywhere. None of us had ever seen that with factory rounds. First guy had no trouble with them in his Springfield

Had that happen with the new Winchester silvertips in my 30-06 ruger American.

Short chamber on that rifle. This is the reason I don't jam bullets I the lands I've seen it and had it happen several times.

I had it happen about 25 years ago while hunting. I had shot a doe with my 338 win mag and cycled another round. When I got back to the truck the bolt wouldn't budge. I had 200 gr BT bullets loaded to kiss the lands and I think the recoil may have caused the bullets in the magazine to move just enough out of the case neck to jam the lands.

Finally turned the bolt and powder dumped out in the action. Luckily I brought a second rifle with me.
