Hunting over corn was alot more FUN when it was illegal just saying 😏 Bpi supports this message Cameras are a tool no different than the apps people use for info and corn is bait no different than a food plot. I don't think it makes you better or worse of a hunter. If people want to go primitive and chunk spears at them then go right ahead. If you want to hunt over a corn pile with a camera go for that too.

I’m all for anyone hunting any legal way they want. I’m just saying that woodmanship hunters are a dying breed. I just camera and feed year round and lots of it but I don’t really hunt near the feeders or where I have cameras. Man I agree, its why I recommend folks do more squirrel hunting.

Playing 3 sides of the coin - heads, tails, and sides - I think there has been a great benefit to this corn and camera situation that nobody talks about. What about all those up and coming bucks that are passed because an El Muy Grande was captured on camera at 2:30 one night? My sons and I do that on my place pretty regular. We usually do some pre-season and early season camera work with corn and we usually identify a few bucks we wouldn't mind killing. We hunt those bucks or new ones that may show up in that same antler class and leave the dinks and baskets alone. I cant be the only one doing this... although i can appreciate the mindset that Billy Bubba with a game cam and sacks of corn shoots whatever shows up.
You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?

^^^ I enjoy checking pics. I got 1 old school non cell camera over 2 feeding areas (flash less than cell) and one cell at a wooded spot. You know more about your heard!!
All deer are different - but my really good amd also mature deer - act like they hate cameras. Hav for years!! Most of mine going to a road when i get next chance. Got a stud 7 - big - got his pic one day - acted like he hated the camera - aint been back. Got snother stud 7 - he went down in rack size some this year - got him multiple times acted freaked out to camera - even got running away pics 🤣🤣. Dont come around much. I get these with most of my really good mature bucks - not all - but most. One of the bettr hunters i know told me - if u want to kill really good mature bucks - take the freaking camera down!!
My big field only has camera in it early season. That way last year - most of my fields about to get that way - doing for pressure - stress only
I could give a crap what everybody else does 😀

So you have corn feeders with cameras on them but you don’t hunt in the area of the cameras? Why do you put cameras on them? Why not put your cameras where you are gonna hunt? I’m not knocking your method at all. Just trying to understand your reasoning is all.

I have four patches with feeders on them that never get hunted and most likely never will. Literally one field has been hunted once in the last 4-5yrs and the others have not. That was only because the wife wanted to go watch some deer on “her” patch one evening. I use those areas as sanctuaries. Only time I go in there is to top off feed, camera maintenance and planting.

I have a small patch that I keep cameras and corn on year round. I find it interesting how and when it gets used by the critters that live around my 96 acres. I look at 1000s of pics. every year. This is how I hunt now that I am not able to get out much anymore.
Grandma said...Always keep a gun close at hand, you just never know when you might run across some varmint that needs killing...
