Adding to this, just mounted another accupoint tonight.
I absolutely love the triangle post in the green color.

I absolutely love the triangle post in the green color. I do like the triangle. That 1x6 for over $1,000, you know you are getting a tank for a scope, it is built rugged and can be run easily once you zero the very tip of it. The optics may leave a little to be desired compared to some others. Tijicon does make some quality optics in some of their other scopes. Optics are subjective, I also know that too. At 300 yards, my eyes need optics and a small thin crosshair at the point, not a triangle or a dot. As I stated, others don't have to have the optics my eyes do. I can read close up without glasses, some of my friends can't.

I own 6 of them, all with Illuminated reticles.
I'll buy no other nowadays.

1" tube will be fine for your application.

Unless you are dialing for very long shots, you won't notice a difference between 1" and 30 mm.
There is a difference at the high end of the scale, but for what you discussed initially, you would never notice the difference.
You're talking a 3x9x40 for 100-300 yard shots in your post, 1" should be fine. It will also be less weight than a 30mm and you can get it lower on your gun, also a plus, yeah it's only a .15 or so of an inch but ... If you were wanting 30mm, I would go on and step up to 50 or 56 to let the larger tube run.

Can’t find a bad thing about trijicon so leaning toward the 3x9x40 accupoint. Only thing that worries me is I see it has 1 inch tube and I was told I should buy a 30mm. Any advice on this? 1 inch is fine. You won’t lose a thing for practical purposes.

Not a very good hunting reticle on the VX-5.

Not a very good hunting reticle on the VX-5. Correct, wasn't looking at the reticles. I've seen VX5HDs with duplex reticles sub $1k in the past and assumed this was the same.
