I absolutely suck at sharpening. I've tried multiple sharpeners and don't seem to get the edge like I want it. Any recommendations on a system that will maybe help build a skill I need? Good videos on youtube?

OUTDOORS55 is a great resource on YouTube. I’ve bought a couple of stones based on his vids and have been super happy with them both.

Buy a wicked edge. It is the best sharpening system I’ve ever used.

I can sharpen a lawn mower blade with worksharp but don't get an edge I like on my hunting knives.

I could look at a knife and dull it worse than it was. Got the Worksharp Precision Adjust and was finally able to get good edges on my blades. Just upgraded to a wicked edge and doing even better.

It’s not the latest and greatest, but I’ve had great luck with the Lansky system.

I've enjoyed the Spyderco Sharpmaker. Prior to to that used diamond hones for rough work, a soft then a hard Washita stone, then strop with rouge. I've made knives for 30 years, and build the initial edge on several increasingly fine 2x72 belts, then a buffer. The Sharpmaker is the first "system" that I've thought could do better than I could by hand. Not to say that the other "systems" (Lansky, Wicked Edge, etc) aren't just as good.

DMT diamond plates will sharpen any blade steel you’ve got.

I’ve been learning a little taxidermy from a buddy of mine. He hand fleshes all his deer hides and this is the system he uses. I’ve never seen a system that can keep a razor blade or a scalpel as sharp as this system does. And fast too. Well worth the money.

Its all about the angle . Any sharpener will do the job if the correct angle i maintained . Buy or make a jig that you can use to keep the correct angle and you can do it. That being said the bet sharpeners for some folk s will have a way to adjust for different angles . And buy a Rada sharpener best $15 you will ever spend

If using a Work Sharp for the first time I'd practice on a knife you don't care about. I damn near ruined an Esee 3 using a Work Sharp but a member on here was able to sharpen it back and save it for me.

This right here ^^^^

The unglazed rim on bottom of a ceramic coffee cup works great too

Yep, that works. Sharpened a many a knives on the windows of a brand new Mercedes at work over the years. 😆 I use a Smith’s diamond sharpener most of the time.

Looked at one yesterday
Probably buy one soon. The angle is adjustable on the V Sharp
