Killed an 8pt on National Forest lands but it wont upgrade us.

I am on a drought now. I did let a couple of decent bucks walk Monday. But been trying to kill a doe. Seems easier when you trying to kill a buck. 😂

I know..i seen about 10 deer in 2 sits..does and a unicorn😂…i dont care..i just happy to see some critters

I haven't seen anything to shoot. My buddy texts me yesterday from Kansas and says he saw 50 deer yesterday morning and 12 bucks. Guess maybe the grass is greener.

I've been in a bad drought but finally got it done today.

I don't ever let hunting make me miss church, so I usually don't hunt on Sundays but since we had no church service tonight I decided to go for an afternoon hunt. It paid off.

I killed a decent 10 point at 4:15 p.m. this afternoon. He weighed in at 181.6 lbs. Sure glad to get one down. I've been hunting a good bit but just haven't been seeing anything to shoot, not even a mature doe.

Sadie and I had a great hunt. She was sitting beside me when I shot him, then she tracked and found him for us. Blessed with this ol' boy today and I'm so very thankful.

Thanks for the kind comments guys. He would have been a really good deer had he possessed some better tine length. I'm pleased with him though. Had never seen him and had no pics of him so no telling where he came from. He was running does. Saw him 3 times in a 15 minute span, 3rd time he came by, I just couldn't help myself...

Well guys. I keep letting the team down. I had a buck I'm after come in a food plot yesterday evening. So I went after him this afternoon. He was with a little spike yesterday. The wind was right for me to sit in a big pile of cull logs. At about 4pm a group of six does came in and then a buck that had lost his antlers came in and chased them all around. Mind you, all these deer are within bow range and I have a muzzleloader. Then another 2 does came in from the other side. Finally, it was getting late and I could hear deer walking from behind the log pile I was in and I thought crap the wind is wrong for that. But that spike walked right by me at 10 yards. I could hear the other deer coming by and I took off the safety. But, he must have smelled me because I could hear him turn and walk back the way he came.... Dang it. This is not my year.

We are in Harrison county about 10 miles south of Iowa. It’s as cold as a witch’s titty here right now.

I bet. It just started sleeting here about an hour ago. After the storm passes it should be pretty good. I plan to hit it hard Monday and Tuesday.
