They’ll never own up to any thing. Period.
And no there’s no accountability.

While we are at it, let’s change turkey season based on a flawed theory that has been proven false by every long term study conducted to prove it. And let’s not admit we overreacted and changed season structures for no reason on that too.

Chuck will never admit lying about the 10 days season extension in NA either.

There’s too much politics involved……Not sure how you’re supposed to manage a deer herd when you cant even admit to what’s actually occurring…..

Guess the farmer is gonna waylay them again next summer. He’s tired of losing his crop. Buddy downs wan the dmap program, he’s kinda anti gov

I’m not saying that you can’t get some information from the GC numbers, what I’m saying is the GC numbers are not solid enough to make good herd management decisions.

I don’t think you can look at GC numbers and say corn is bad. That’s what I’m saying.

I don’t think the statement has ever been that “corn is bad”…….I think what has been said is that corn has gotten a lot more deer shot…..and I think that’s a pretty safe bet to be true……

It’s definitely leveled the playing the field for people with small properties and poor habitat.

None of those states have 3 buck limits and 3 month long gun seasons.

Mississippi is really close though.

I’ve got a few clients in MS that have a very difficult time getting deer to maturity, even on large acreages. They still have the same challenges we do, but they at least provide a mid season break in rifle season.

I think Louisiana has been allowing baiting for about 7-8 years too. They have long seasons as well. I’m not sure how many bucks they allow though.

Also I’m pretty sure there are antler restrictions in MS. Don’t they have an inside spread rule?

Google says Mississippi has 160,000 deer hunters and that Alabama has 235,000…….

Feeding has been legal in Louisiana for as long as I can remember. Depending on the area you hunt, the seasons are very long. The area I’m in runs from Sept to mid January. Archery starts around the September 15. Firearms starts in mid October and runs till January 15. You can kill 4 deer of which no more then 2 can be antlered bucks. We used to be able to kill 6 deer. We could kill 6 bucks if we wanted and I did kill my 6 bucks every year for many years. I had multiple great places to hunt and would only take a couple off each place. The limits got reduced in our area after all the hurricanes almost wiped out the coastal deer population in our area. They’ve made a very strong comeback and numbers are really good again. I’m not sure what the dates and limits are in the other 9 season areas of the state.

I sure woulda thought there would have been way more hunters in Mississippi then that. I wonder how Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Texas compare to Alabama.

I don't know how many Hunters Texas has but I went Hunting TX for the first time this year. You can take 3 bucks a year, 2 spikes and one mature with an inside spread of 13 inches. Getting those bucks go stop while I held a tape measure was a real challenge.

There's been baiting in NC since forever. Three month firearm season in the eastern part of the state starting mid Oct. There used to be a 6 deer limit back in the 90s.. not sure what it is now. They kill a crap ton of deer in that neck of the woods every year.
